Dennys Photo Gallery: 20 Cute Child Portraits
From Denny: Check out the adorable child portraits I found on one of my "visual vacations" to rest my brain from mind-numbing blog maintenance tasks. Most were taken by their parents and are quite clever in composition.
How do you narrow down the choices to just a few for a post? Well, it wasn't easy, I can tell you that one for sure! I'll probably do a few more of these child photography posts.
I love portraits and the human face that I'm always looking for creative ways to photograph. This should give you some great ideas of how to photograph your new arrival, the sister's cute kids or just when you are out on photo safari in your neighborhood.

Dennys Photo Gallery: Awesome Quiet Landscapes by Adrians Art
From Denny: This week, while on one of my spectacular "visual vacations," I discovered this awesome photographer over at flickr. This photographer, Adrian Campfield, is based in the United Kingdom and has an incredible emotional connection to Nature's beauty. The early sunrise and sunset landscape photography is breathtaking, exuding a wonderful sense of peace and tranquility.
The commentary under the photos are all from the photographer. Be sure to visit this photographer's flickr pages by just clicking on the photograph!
Since he is a professional photographer you are in luck if you wish to purchase prints of any of these beauties, just click on over here: Adrian's Art. He is also a pastel, pencil and watercolor artist and includes examples of his work on the site. This is an awesome body of work taken from 2007 - 2011. (All Rights Reserved by this photographer with embed codes available for bloggers.)

18 Funny Coffee Splash Photos
From Denny: Check out the best of the amusing coffee splash photos over at flickr. Many are a first time effort from the photographers.
Ever since flickr created galleries to stash your favorites by themes and in groups of a manageable 18, I've been having fun on a regular basis. Try it sometime and get your own Visual Vacation to rest your tired brain at the end of a work week. :) Enjoy!

Dennys Art Sanctuary: Animation Art: Origins By Robert Showalter
Dennys Art Sanctuary: Animation Art: Origins By Robert Showalter:
From Denny: "Origins" is a delightful little animation project. It addresses the universal questions of "Where do we come from?" and "Where do I belong?"
This tiny and charming robot begins his search as a train passes by, marked with the exact same logo as he sports on his metal chest. That point of familiarity prompts him to begin his journey of discovery to search for his origins. What he finds and what he decides I will leave for you to discover. :)

Dennys Photo Gallery: Funny Monkeys Make You Smile
From Denny: Well, not all of them actually qualify as real monkeys but hey, stretch your imagination and enjoy their antics as they mug for the camera! I've been collecting these funny and cute photos for a couple of weeks now.
Would have had them up sooner for you but the computer crashed and had to replace it. When I got back up online yet another surprise: Blogger decided to make a gazillion changes to "blogger in draft" and the bugs are still not worked out for bloggers. They have some great ideas and are offering some wonderful new gadgets and different features as you post.
But for now they have slowed me down to two or three posts a day because it's like swimming through mud waiting for the draft to accept everything. I sure will be glad when it's all worked out and I can get back to seven posts or more a day! Until then, get some smiles from these cute monkeys, both human and animal.

This is what I think of my really horrible boss at work photo by floridapfe @ flickr

Music: Rapper Talib Kweli Performs Cold Rain, Get By on Colbert
From Denny: This rapper is known for his socially conscious lyrics. He addressed the Arizona law that racially profiles anyone of color, predominantly Hispanic. As a Social Issues Poet (SIP) myself I consider this musician a SIP+ since he rap-sings his poetry. :)
What I like about this group is they have created a more musically and mentally interesting version of hip hop and rap by adding the jazz vibe that winds through the music tying it all together.
Another great way to balance the tension of the spoken rapped word is he has included a melodic female singer for that yin-yang perfect balance. Too often much of hip hop is lacking in musical creativity, has too harsh a sound that does not engage as much of the brain as does Talib's music.
When you listen to the distinctive parts all pulled together it literally fires off different places in your brain a lot like classical music does. Well done!
Some hip hop and rap is too local in scope or sometimes too crude for mainstream audiences. It reminds me of when poets tried too much to be as vague and obtuse as possible, proving their intellectual superiority in a previous generation. It left their audiences frustrated and scratching their heads wondering what the hell the poet was discussing. Fortunately, a generation later most poets speak plainly as to their intent.
I'm glad to see this trend of musicians delivering some quality music along with a thinking person's lyrics that give the listener something deep to consider long after the song is finished. To my friends in Italy, if you haven't heard of this hip hop rapping jazz sensational group, sit back, listen and enjoy!

Dennys Art Sanctuary: Funny Art: A True Gentle Man
silly monkey photo has nothing to do with this post. :) |
Dennys Art Sanctuary: Funny Art: A True Gentle Man: "From Denny: An artist with a sense of humor is more fun than a barrel of monkeys let loose in your living room and swinging from the chandeliers while swilling Guinness beer. Party on!
I happened upon this artist while searching for coffee photos for my online newspaper. You just never know what fun discoveries are waiting around the corner! This is from nyoin @ flickr, an illustrator and graphic designer from South Korea."

Dennys Art Sanctuary: Art: Urban Museum Or Trash?
Dennys Art Sanctuary: Art: Urban Museum Or Trash?: "From Denny: It's photos like this one that get us to question our personal definition of art. Is art about what is painted upon the canvas? Is art meant to be orderly and always in the proper situation?
Can we call it art if it's found in an alley of trash? You decide.
Hey, for me I thought the whole idea was fun and colorful. So, if you go by the age old definition that 'art must evoke an emotion' then it's art 'cause it sure gave me a grin and a happy start to my day! :)"

Dennys Art Sanctuary: Fathers Day Music: Keith Urban Sings Song For Dad: "From Denny: Keith Urban offers up his observations on fatherhood and how he has become much like his own father. 'Sometimes, women become their mothers when they grow up and sometimes men become their fathers' goes the saying.
Included are the poetic lyrics which paint a vivid picture of a child remembering his father."

Dennys Photo Gallery: Fathers Day
From Denny: Check out these awesome photos I found for today's theme! Some wonderful offerings from amateur and professional photographers alike. The black and white photos have a very intimate quality to them. I liked the ones of girls smothering their dads with kisses as I liked to do the same with my grandfather and my favorite uncle when I was a little girl. They used to laugh and beam for hours afterward. Give the father in your life some love today. He deserves it! Of course, I had to include some humorous photos as well. Enjoy!

Dennys Photo Gallery: 2011 Super Moon World Photos
From Denny: Yes, I've been on one of my visual vacations, tripping through the Flickr database for cool Super Moon photos. All of these photos were taken on 19 March 2011 for this year's Super Moon event all over the world. Usually, a Super Moon occurs about every 20 years. We are expecting another one in 2016. One photographer created a short video of his various shots and paired a great jazz love song with it. Enjoy these visual treats!

Amazing Portrait Art Photo of The Day: Marilyn Monroe
From Denny: Can I say, "Wow!" What a huge talent is this fellow journalist who is also a digital artist, a sculpture, a photographer. And did I mention he speaks a slew of languages? He was born in the Ivory Coast nation at the tip of Africa and now lives and works out of Belgium
He has been developing this intriguing art technique he labels as digital circlism and he is currently exploring its possibilities. Heine really knows how to move the emotion of a subject while paying attention to tiny details that enrich the viewing experience: Art!

We think of Winter ending, Spring coming in on the cool winds, soaking Spring rains, the trees leafing out and green weeds. There is the fun celebration of St. Patrick's Day. And there is the old adage, 'March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.' These designers took these all as their inspirations."

Music Video: The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole
Soothe your nerves during the holiday rush with some sweet sounds from the classic Nat King Cole at Christmas.
From Denny: Enjoy the original version of this song done by favorite artist Nat King Cole. There are some classic artists that never go out of style. It's interesting to watch each generation and their interpretation of these classics. Here are the lyrics too for you to enjoy.
The Christmas Song lyrics
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all-aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.
They know that Santa's on his way;
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother's child is going to spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.
And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to you!

Music Video: Michael Buble, Jennifer Hudson Christmas Duet
Christmas music for everyone to enjoy.
From Denny: Michael Buble is the ultimate entertainer. Ever since he was a little boy he dearly wished to become a famous singer. His is an embarrassing story today of how in his childhood he prayed hard every night before he went to sleep and slept with a Bible under his pillow to help along his ambition. But like he says with a broad smile, "Looks like the prayers worked!"
