The Social Poets: President's Day Flash Mob: Seniors Take To The Streets, Sing Patriotic Songs: From Denny: You know it isn't cool any more when the old guys adopt the younger generation's culture like flash mobs. :)

Seriously, this was a group of seniors from the World War 2 generation that remember growing up in the tough economic times of the Great Depression.

They also remember how they used to pick up their spirits - and those around them - by singing in groups their favorite patriotic songs on holidays like President's Day.

Whimsical Funny Hats At Ascot Ladies Day

From Denny:  Check out the outrageously fun and whimsically styled hats women were sporting today at the Ascot Racecourse near London on Ladies Day.  It's held on the third day of racing during the Royal Ascot meet and is considered the highlight of the week at the track.

It's sort of like wearing a high class clown suit but everyone admires you, your creativity - and your daring to be the spectacle of public ridicule and laughter -  for wearing such a creation.

It was Queen Anne that opened the racetrack in 1711 when riding in the forest near Windsor Castle.  And then came Ladies Day...

Father Time


From Denny: Those men who are fathers may be fathers in a conventional sense or mentors to younger brothers and sisters, neighbor kids or as sometime fathers as boyfriends of a child's mother. Male nurturing is as important as female nurturing when we are growing up trying to figure out our place in the world. It always help to have a support group from adults who care.

Whomever your true father was in this world, be it your natural father, your stepfather or even your grandfather, think of the good he gave you this Father's Day and honor him with a heartfelt thought. Instead of focusing upon those who did not step up, focus upon gratitude for those who did honor us with their love. Have a great Father's Day!
