Lampooning Perfectionists - Cheeky Quote Day 28 Oct 2009
I went cruising the web looking for more funny chocolate quotes than I already have stashed on Romancing The Chocolate blog and ran into funny Sandra Boynton's site. She has a new movie short just released a couple of days ago. B. B. King sings alongside his famous sidekick Lucille.
Let's all support her as this is her first movie debut. The little documentary that sidekicks it is interesting as to how many people it really takes, all the hoops they have to jump through, just to make a tiny film - and she made it funny too!

Theme: Smoking Hot Sexy Lips!
From Denny: There is nothing like the fashion industry trying to sell lipstick that ends up giving us intriguing art photos! Some of these I recognize from past Revlon and Christian Dior campaigns. They are beautiful images, enjoy!
Editorial Cartoons over at The Social Poets 24 Oct 2009
From Denny: Help me celebrate The Social Poets one year blog anniversary by laughing at today's editorial cartoons of the week collected into one post. There is certainly plenty going on in American culture that the cartoonists are not short of issues to lampoon.

2 Great and Easy Pecan Bundt Cake Recipes
2 Easy Cake Recipes: Louisiana Praline Toffee Bundt Cake, Southern Livings Popular Praline Cake
From Denny: Was looking through my years old newspaper food sections files, before throwing them out, decided to digitize some of the better recipes. This one is an awesome one for using fresh pecans that are in season right now. It came from a regional church cookbook, those cookbook equivalents of little "hole in the wall" great cooking restaurants that are difficult to find.
Also, provided is an online resource for purchasing Louisiana pecans. This farmer is friendly and a real delight every weekend when he comes in to the downtown Baton Rouge Farmers' Market to sell his products. Reasonably priced too. Take a look!

Busy Day at The Social Poets, Posts on Dan Browns Book The Lost Symbol and Obama
From Denny: There's so much going on with the news coverage about Dan Brown's new book, The Lost Symbol. He sure has tapped into the popularity of conspiracy theories and fast-paced mystery thrillers.
The Today Show both interviewed him and did some short news stories as clues for unraveling the mysteries in the book, great fun! Take a look.

Cheeky Quote Day! over at The Social Poets
*** Comedians like Jay Leno keep us laughing with a ready quip!
From Denny: In the mood for some hilarious Jay Leno quotes? Hike on over to The Social Poets for this week's Cheeky Quote Day! segment. If ever there is a cheeky guy Jay Leno is rated at the top.
For 35 Jay Leno Quotes, Cheeky Quote Day 21 October 2009, go here.
Here's a trio sampling:
* A Minneapolis company has come out with a credit card size shotgun that fits in your wallet. The inventor says he invented it to give people a sense of security. Oh yeah, what makes you feel more secure than sitting on a shotgun? Now how does this work? What's the first thing a thief steals? Your wallet, oh, now he's got your gun too!
* In California, 50 women protested the impending war with Iraq by lying on the ground naked and spelling out the word 'peace.' Right idea, wrong president. (George Bush was in office, not Bill Clinton.)
* Wait till these Enron guys find out that in prison, the term "Insider trading" has a whole new meaning.

How Do You Best Create in Your World?
From Denny: This unusual and beautiful photo popped up in my world recently and it really does illustrate this quote the best! Always check your belief system at the door, suspend it in neutral so you have no limitations for the moment, while you are on a voyage of inner discovery. This act makes it possible to absorb all the benefits of the beauty you encounter along the way in Life.
Quote
The real voyage of discovery consists not in making new landscapes but in having new eyes. - Marcel Proust

Poem: Hunting Our Home - with wonderful photos
*** The Paradox Dilemma: Whether we own our house or the house owns us! :)
From Denny: Lately, I've been watching too much HGTV House Hunters International that I think I'm beginning to "channel" it. :) Seriously though, it did get me thinking overview wise of humanity in general when it comes to building a home.
Then I went cruising through the Flickr database and had too much fun finding these awesome and unusual photos. Try plugging in a search over there for "houses" and you will pull up over 300,000 photos. After wading through over 2,000 photos these were the winners for you today.
The poem was sparked by the house hunting programs and then refined as I found some most curious house photos that revealed the owners' desires and intent for what they wanted to create in the world and for their lives. Then the poem was off and running! Enjoy the wonderful art photos.
Hunting Our Home
It’s our nature to make a home for ourselves
Dividing the inner space for comfort
Designing the outer armor for show
Cultivating a garden to complement and rest
We wonder about what the other guy has...
Where do they live?
How do they live?
Why did they choose what they did?
We travel the world exploring
Opening doors and entering novel rooms
Crowding into our heads fresh ways to see
Different places and distinctive faces
Look at all the extraordinary people
Their houses speak their owners’ intent
The wealthy build grand gleaming palaces
Strutting their status in society and imagined worth
The homes point the way desire travels
Sometimes wealth can seep corruption
And old houses reflect unintended decay
Perversion builds a home destroyed by atom bomb tests
Old status homes descend down to the haunted
Playgrounds for today’s Halloween children
Some remain abandoned for centuries obsolete
Others live abundantly well-loved in lush fields
Still others thrive most elegantly aloof
While some cling to live ruggedly remote
Others perform the dance of the cliffs most modern
While others melt grinning into their environment
A few joyfully proclaim themselves, unabashed
While others choose another intentional life
One chooses outward memorials to those now gone
While another chooses inward Hopi contemplation
Some chose to cultivate isolated serenity
Some visit simplicity in the warming sun
Some blend home with garden in delight
Some soar their intellect with imagination
We continue walking through this thing called Life
Always poking through the hedges to see more
Remembering our houses, our homes, our creations
Are truly, while growing and changing, are but fishers of men
